Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton says he is "delighted" to sign a new one-year contract extension to keep him at the club until 2029.

Walton - who had signed a new deal earlier this year, external - joined the club in the summer of 2021 when the team were playing in League One under Kieran McKenna, and has made 138 appearances in all competitions.

He has started twice in the Carabao Cup and once in the Premier League so far this season.

Speaking to Radio Suffolk on how he felt after signing his new deal, Walton said: "Really good. I didn't expect it to come so soon after my contract signing back in January, but with the way football works sometimes that can happen.

"I am delighted to get it signed, and to commit my future here for another three years is amazing. It's somewhere I can call home now, I've lived here for a fair while. It's nice to be settled and playing for an amazing football club.

"When you go somewhere at the age I came, you always want to settle, find a home, and not be on the move again. With so many new players it was an exciting time to be coming in. There was lots of change but it has been amazing and with success comes that feeling of security and home.

"When you do well somewhere you get a really good connection with fans, people around the town, so I've been fortunate to be part of a successful team over the years."
