Luca Woodhouse says he is "fully invested" in Exeter City after a move away from the club fell through.

The highly-rated central defender, 22, had been linked with a move during the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

"In the transfer window, everything happens, names get brought up and don't get brought up," Woodhouse told BBC Radio Devon.

"Something didn't work out and I'm here at Exeter now fully invested, fully involved and always happy to be here.

"I'll never forget last season the opportunity that the club gave me to play in the EFL. I'm an Exeter player, love being here as well, so cracking on to the season."

Woodhouse has played 46 times for Exeter since joining the club from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2025.

But he was left out of the side for the trip to York City in late August, along with striker Jayden Wareham, as transfer talks gathered pace.

While Wareham left St James Park for Wycombe, Woodhouse's deal did not get over the line.

"An opportunity came up and it was nearly done and obviously it didn't happen for whatever reason," he added.

"But that's football, you've got to move on, you've got to crack on to where you're employed and I'm loving it here at the moment.

"Obviously I would like to get more points on the board, but it's good.

"The staff and the players have been brilliant with me and the fans now have fully taken me in again."

Woodhouse is hoping Exeter's new-look squad, following relegation last season, can turn their recent poor fortunes around.

They have not scored a League Two goal in a month and have not won in their past six league matches heading into Saturday's home game against Rotherham United.

"You can never think negatively this early in the season, we're eight games in," he said.

"I know some results have been frustrating but at the end of the day things change, football changes very quickly and as players that's on our own back to change that.

"We all want it really badly and hopefully this Saturday we can do that."
