Milton Keynes Dons have announced the termination of winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's contract "by mutual consent" after he was charged with assault by beating.

The 34-year-old, who denied the charge during an appearance at Cannock Magistrates' Court on 25 September, will stand trial at the same court on 7 January 2027.

Mendez-Laing, who counts Rochdale, Cardiff and Peterborough among his former clubs, played 29 times for MK Dons after his arrival from Derby County in May 2025.

The Guatemala international, who represented England at youth level, scored nine goals as the Buckinghamshire side finished as runners-up in League Two last season, winning promotion.

"We thank Nathaniel for his efforts during his time at Stadium MK and wish him all the best for the future." a club statement read, external.
