Hampshire go into the final day of their match against Glamorgan on 124-2 in their second innings, 125 ahead, as they look to make up for lost time.

The visitors, bottom of the table, are under more pressure to push for a positive result if another poor weather forecast proves more accurate.

Nick Gubbins (40) and Ali Orr (39) gave Hampshire a positive start to their second knock before Mir Hamza and Timm van der Gugten claimed wickets.

Glamorgan were bowled out for 161 in their first innings once the groundstaff had mopped up.

43 overs were bowled on day three at a virtually deserted Sophia Gardens, with spectators discouraged by a forecast of atrocious weather for most of the day.

Play got under way at 15:00 BST after earlier downpours, with Glamorgan adding 12 more runs from their last pair before Timm van der Gugten (27) uppercut Sonny Baker to third man.

The tempo of the match changed in the sunshine after Hampshire had had the heavy roller applied, with Orr and Gubbins setting off in determined style.

Orr survived a concerted caught-behind appeal off Mir Hamza, but the openers had 68 on the board by the tea interval.

They added just two more in the final session before Hamza won an lbw verdict against a dismayed Gubbins, whose purposeful 40 included seven fours.

The scoring rate slowed as van der Gugten also returned with a better second spell, producing a peach of a delivery to hit Orr's off-stump.

Toby Albert (17 not out) started cautiously and was quickly overtaken by Aussie batter Jake Lehmann, who was unbeaten on 51 in the first innings and sped to 23 off 26 in the second.
