Nolan, Flynn, Hughes or Todd? - Newport fans' views on next boss

Mark Hughes, Kevin Nolan and two former favourites are among the names being suggested by readers to become the next Newport County boss.

The Exiles are looking for their third manager in 12 months after Christian Fuchs' decision to step away before the start of the new League Two season.

Chris Todd is taking pre-season training after being named interim manager.

We asked fans who they would like to see in at Rodney Parade - and here is a selection of the responses.

Mike – Kevin Nolan

Morgan - Don't think that County's revival was all about Fuchs. Before Todd was appointed Fuchs won five league games in 17. After Todd we won five games in 11. Give Todd the job

Mark - I'm happy for Chris Todd to have a chance to see what he can do.

Steve - Obviously, County are very short of money, so why not appoint a player-manager and kill two birds with one stone? Somebody with experience who can sort the youngsters out on the pitch.

Jonah - Mike Flynn is the only man who is up for the job under the circumstances.

Carl - We need a manager who is tried and tested at league level, who understands the mechanics of working in this league. Only time will tell but what we don't want is the debacle that we had last season - it's not fair on us fans that pay good hard-earned money to be put through that again.

Neil - Give Todd a chance. Many times last season you could see Fuchs and Todd in conversation during games more than Fuchs and his assistant Smith. Todd also seemed to tighten up the defence. On paper we have a better defence to work with this season so we have to hope results will improve with better players

Dean - I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Kevin Nolan. He may not have the most impressive of CVs out there but I'm sure - like Fuchs - he will have an aura about him having played at the top level for so long. As long as we don't give it to Todd or take another David Hughes or Nelson Jardim I'd be happy to give them a chance.

Kevin - Simple: MARK HUGHES

Robert - The experimental managers never seem to prosper. They may be innovative but they don't deliver in League Two. We need someone who knows how to operate in this bruising division. Which poses another challenge: who wants to come to League Two with one of the smallest budgets? So, who is out there? A manager who is in need of redemption, or second chance? A novice? An overseas talent? Perhaps the board will know.

Terry - Frankly, any guy who will do as he is told by chairman Huw Jenkins.

Ade - I never really expected us to be in this position. I don't think anyone will take the job and we'll rumble on with Todd.

Ryan - Would love the sacked Salford manager Karl Robinson suspect it will be ether Mark Hughes or - as much as I think he won't take it - Michael Flynn.

George - For me we need someone who knows the club and what it means to the fans and the city. I wouldn't be against Rowberry coming back in for a second spell. Granted we should've finished higher in his first spell but he has gained valuable experience since he was with us and would be a good appointment to try and stay clear of any relegation troubles.
