Households in Herefordshire will be given two caddies, one inside the home and a larger one for outside, to have their food waste collected, by September 2027. Almost 90,000 homes will have their discarded tea bags, vegetable peels and cooked scraps collected weekly, 18 months after the Government decided to obligate councils to provide the service. Malvern will be the first area of Worcestershire to start collecting food waste, in October 2026 - followed by Worcester next spring and Wychavon in 2028. Wyre Forest and Bromsgrove councils are still negotiating with the Government over the funding. Image shows food waste bin being collected in Norwich.
