The Metropolitan Police says it's doubling its policing teams tackling crime in the West End - and doubling its use of live facial recognition technology. The force says it's focusing on shoplifting, phone theft and violence against women and girls. But the announcement comes against a backdrop of budget pressures and cuts to other services, not to mention a perception that they won't, or can't, do anything about petty crime. BBC Radio London's Ross Ryan has looking at the scale of the problem, and what police say they are doing about it.
