The Kremlin's man in London on alleged Russian war crimes

Latest News Picks

Available for over a year

The war in Ukraine is entering a new phase. The Russian army is slowly seizing Ukrainian territory in the east of the country every day. The BBC's Sunday Morning programme has heard from the frontline - from refugees who've fled the war and from world leaders as they scrabble to deal with the scale of the conflict. In a rare interview, the BBC's Clive Myrie sits down with the Russian ambassador to London - Andrei Kelin - to hear Moscow's response. He is shown pictures of the devastation of Mariupol – the Ukraine’s port city smashed to pieces – pictures of dead civilians in the northern town of Bucha – and images of Russian soldiers shooting two elderly men who were walking away from them and posed absolutely no threat. In at times, a terse exchange with the BBC's Clive Myrie, the ambassador denies Russian forces were shelling civilians and said allegations of war crimes in the town of Bucha were a "fabrication".
