"We walked from sunset to sunrise"

Newshour

Available for over a year

Once the pandemic hit Colombia, Luis Guillermo Franquiz lost his job in the publishing house he was working at in Colombian capital. He decided to go back to his home country, Venezuela, which he had left two years ago because of the economic and humanitarian crisis there. The trip was not an easy one. Airports and ground transportation were not available, so he decided to make the journey by foot. It took him 16 days and more than 500 kilometres of uncertainty, during which also encountered the kindness of people who helped him along the way. (Image: Venezuelan writer Luis Guillermo Franquiz.
