Swiss-Italian pianist Francesco Piemontesi performs at this year's Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg in a programme that includes Schubert's Sonata no. 18 in G, D894, which Schumann once described as the most perfect sonata in form and conception. Francesco Piemontesi also performs the first book of Liszt's Années de pèlerinage, subtitled Switzerland, which is a musical journey through the Alps, from the lake at Wallenstadt, the chapel of William Tell, and the Obermann Valley and the bells of Geneva. Recorded on 24 June 2026 at the Angelika Kauffmann Hall in Schwarzenberg as part of the Schubertiade, and presented by Sarah Walker.
