 On her Ramallah Diaries
A lot has been written about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, most of it makes depressing reading. But now a set of diaries, written over a twenty year period have given a fresh and surprisingly funny slant on life on the West Bank.
Suad Amiry kept a diary in Ramallah, struggling she says, to live a normal life in an insane situation. She was there when the Israeli army arrived in 2002 and in her new book Sharon and My Mother In Law she describes living under curfew ... including the challenges of inviting her 92 year old mother in law to come and live with her.
