understanding infant development
At first glance, a new born baby doesn't seem to do very much. But a technique pioneered in the 70s reveals that babies are born able to do a lot more than we realise.
The Brazelton Assessment shows parents just what they can do, and there's recently been a revival of interest in it, especially from health visitors and psychologists.
The Brazelton Centre in Cambridge is a charity run by the psychologist, Joanna Hawthorne. Claudia Hammond went to the Rosie Maternity Hospital to see the Brazelton technique in action.
