  Career sexism 29 October 2004
How can women (and men) escape it?

"Getting rid of career sexism is vital to British industry" Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry said this week.

With fewer than 9% of the directors of Britain's top companies women, what can we learn from the experience of women near the top of their companies about career sexism and how to escape it.

Martha is joined by Professor Sue Vinnicombe, Director of the Centre for Developing Women Business Leaders at Cranfield School of Management, and Margaret Heffernan, whose book The Naked Truth: A Working Woman's Manifesto on Business and What Really Matters  has just been published. In it she identifies four career limiting stereotypes of women at work: The Bitch, The Guy, The Geisha, and The Invisible Woman.
