on her new book, Plant

It is a shocking statistic – an estimated two-thirds of plant species will have disappeared before the end of the 21st century.   But ordinary gardens may hold the key to helping the future of our planet’s plant life.

Janet Marinelli is a woman on a mission. She works at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York and with the help of Kew Gardens, she has published a new book called Plant which helps gardeners to choose the right plants for their environment, so ensuring the survival of many species.

She told Martha why so many of the world’s plants are under threat.
