  Piali Ray 16 August 2004
How a South Asian dancer was inspired by the National Gallery's most popular paintings

A new project Move It at the National Gallery, is combining South Asian music and dance with some of its popular paintings and hopes as a result a whole new audience might be encouraged to visit.

It's the idea of Piali Ray who has been performing and latterly teaching Indian classical and folk dance for most of her life and was recently awarded an OBE for her services to the Arts.

She talks to Sheila about her latest project at the National Gallery.

Move It can be seen at the National Gallery on Friday and Sunday afternoons throughout August
