Birmingham's sex education scheme for young Asians
This week it was announced that a pill which can induce an abortion up to nine weeks after conception may soon be available to be taken at home - at the moment it has to be taken under medical supervision.
But, whilst access to contraception and information about sexual health generally gets easier, for some sectors of the community it's still taboo. Official statistics suggest that only a minority of young Asian women engage in sexual activity before marriage - so there's little provision aimed at them. Other studies show the current generation behaves in much the same way as their contemporaries from other backgrounds.
The Brooke Advisory Centre in Birmingham has set up a scheme which offers classes on sexual heath and relationships to young Asians. Sharmini Selvarajah went to a session at St Alban's School in Birmingham to find out more.
