Is it really necessary to have a mastectomy?

Every year 2,500 mammograms will detect what is known as a ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which is an early form of breast cancer.

Most women with DCIS have no symptoms and are offered surgery as their first treatment.

What exactly is DCIS and are doctors agreed on how best to treat it?

Jenni is joined by Jacky Merrison who had DCIS and Emma Pennery who is a Breast Care nurse at Breast Cancer Care.
