Women and Work Commission 30 July 2004
What are the key issues affecting the employment of women?

Employment opportunities for women have increased greatly in the last 30 years but there are still persistent differences in the experience of men and women in the jobs market.

Current figures show that the gap between the hourly wage of a part-time female worker and the hourly wage of a full-time male worker stands at 40%.

Now the Government has announced a new commission to look at the issues affecting women’s employment and pay. Martha speaks to Baroness Margaret Prosser, who chairs the new commission and Christine Buckley, Industrial Editor of The Times.
