On her musical, Beloved Clara
It's one of the most romantic stories in classical music - the love affair between Robert and Clara Schumann. Clara herself the musical prodigy and toast of Europe, Robert the talented young composer.
It inspired Lucy Parham to create Beloved Clara, a whole musical evening using the Schumanns' work and their letters read by actors.
Lucy talks to Martha about the Schumanns' marriage and their friendship with Johannes Brahms.
Lucy Parham's new CD is called The Romantic Piano
Beloved Clara will be performed on 20 June at The State Apartments, Royal Hospital Chelsea
