Bringing to life the old songs of St Kilda
Academic, Dr Anne Lorne Gillies is also a distinguished Gaelic singer. Her collection of the old songs from the remote Scottish islands of St Kilda is about to be released, including many songs which have never before been recorded.
Anne joins Jenni to talk about why she's drawn to the songs and how the words and music evoke the life of the St Kildans, the last of whom left the islands in 1930.
An long Hirteach: St Kilda's Mailboat by Anne Lorne Gillies, on the Brigh Productions label is available on CD through the Anne Lorne Gillies website from Friday 4 June, and from National Trust for Scotland shops from mid-June
