Who do you think you are?

A spiritual comment and prayer to start the day with Jo Moir
Good morning.
I have often wanted to be on that TV show ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ I’m intrigued by the idea that there might be exciting people in my genealogy. A quick conversation with my family however reveals that my ancestors were not exciting, but they were fascinating. Inventors, suffragettes, composers and carpenters and even an ancestor who made a wedding dress completely out of parachute silk! It would be wonderful to hear their voices, speak up for them, make sure they are not forgotten.
There is a framed picture in my home which reads ‘a voice for the voiceless’ it is a quote from the bible from Proverbs 21:15. It’s a reminder to speak up for people who do not feel they can speak, or are forgotten or silenced in some way.
Today I join with the national week of prayer as I think about and pray for those in the sphere of law. Tasked with ensuring justice, protecting peoples’ rights and upholding the legal system. They are, so often, literally a voice for the voiceless.
Lord God, would you maintain and protect our justice system, give strength to those who speak up for others and represent their cause in our courts. Give peace for the victim and the opportunity of rehabilitation for the defendant. At this time of crisis in our prisons and pressure on our courts would you give law makers systems that work fairly and swiftly so that families and communities may find healing and restoration.
Amen
I’m quite happy to come from creative, working stock…. although I’m still looking for exciting ancestors if you know a good genealogist?
Bless you!
