Bobby Friction hosts Slow Sunday with a live session from FRQNCY LDN, the experimental project of Alex Lavery and James Ford, producer and one half of Simian Mobile Disco. Bobby also takes us on a journey through South Asian downbeat music.
Lavery and Ford connected through a shared interest in the crossover between sound and neuroscience. Ford attended one of Lavery’s early sound sessions, and the pair later performed together at Glastonbury, where FRQNCY LDN began to take shape. The project has since expanded into a larger ensemble. Built around gongs, drones, electronics and live instrumentation, the project explores the overlap between sound, meditation and neuroscience, and the idea that immersive sound can create moments of reflection, release and reset.
