Made of Liverpool
From The Beatles to The Zutons Liverpool has defined the sound of rock and pop. Emily Pilbeam chats to John Power of Cast and The La's and visits the Jacaranda to find out why.
The La's and Cast are two of the defining bands of Indie and Brit pop. John Power tells Emily Pilbeam how his hometown of Liverpool influenced the sound of both of his bands and why the city has produced so much world class music. The Beatles, of course, helped to kick-start the rock 'n' roll revolution back in the 1960s when they played at venues in Liverpool like The Cavern. Emily pays a visit to one venue where The Beatles developed their craft in the city - The Jacaranda. Today it's run by Graham Stanley who is helping to support a new crop of bands to carry on the legacy of the big names that have come out of Liverpool.
With music from Echo and the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, The Lightning Seeds, The Zutons, Miles Kane, The Farm, Ladytron and many more, plus tips for your new favourite band to look out for from the Jacaranda and BBC Introducing.
