Bobby is joined by Excise Dept, a multilingual, genre-less collective from Mumbai, India, ahead of the release of their second album SHOPNOBHUMI (“Dreamland”).
SHOPNOBHUMI arrives two years after their 2024 debut SAB KUCH MIL GAYA MUJHE VOL. 1, moving away from its frenetic, sample-heavy hip-hop towards slower, expansive compositions built through live improvisation, ambient music and experimental electronics. Made in collaboration with electronic artist Sanjay Das, aka Philtersoup, the record moves through ambient electronics, slowcore, dub, trip-hop, folk traditions and qawwali-like passages. The group describe it as “akin to the Voyager Golden Record — a lost multilingual transmission drifting in the endless void.”
