Can dog deworming tablets cure cancer?

Stacey meets Mel, who’s hoping a shocking online claim could help with her stage four cancer, a viral trend not approved for human consumption.

Stacey looks into an emotive and controversial trend claiming that over-the-counter dog deworming tablets fenbendazole can cure cancer. She meets Mel, a woman from Kent with stage four cancer, who decided to start the DIY treatment and chart her progress on her socials.

Further sleuthing takes Stacey to America to meet Joe Tippens, the originator of the trend, whose claims sparked nationwide panic buying of fenbendazole in South Korea. That leads Stacey to explore why medical trials have never been fully funded, and to ask Dr Alex and Dr Nighat about the potential side-effects and the benefits of sticking to NHS-approved treatments.
